Matching two-piece sets have taken online retailers by storm, and for good reason! They’re playful, versatile, and scream “WINTER IS FINALLY OVERRR!”…sorry for caps… it’s been a really long winter. Now that Spring is here, I’m ready to shop my favorite Spring essential – super cute two-piece sets!
Two-piece sets are bold pieces and can sometimes feel intimidating to add to your wardrobe, but by following these simple rules you’ll be able to wear these fun outfits with confidence!

One Size Does Not Fit All – Customize Your Size
My favorite thing about two-piece sets, from a style perspective, is that (in most cases) you can buy two different sizes for the top and bottom. The fact of the matter is, most women are not the same size on the top as they are on the bottom. I love that two-pieces give us a chance to buy the right size for each half!

Create Balance for Your Body Type
It also gives us a chance to create balance for our particular body types, which is always my goal when styling. Let me explain what I mean by “balance” a little bit by using myself as an example:
I’m a pear shape, meaning I carry most of my weight in my lower half, throughout my hips, and I’m very small on top. So for my shape, it’s most flattering to wear more volume on top (ruffles, bright colors, patterns, etc), and something more skimming (less eye-catching) on the bottom.
Perfect Styles for Pear-Shapes
In contrast, if you’re an inverted triangle shape (meaning you’re top heavy, and smaller through the hips/legs) you would want to balance out your top half by wearing the bolder piece of the bottom!

Be Playful, But Tasteful
When shopping for matching sets, I also look for balance in terms of how revealing it is. Matching sets are meant to be playful, sassy, and a little skin bearing- but there’s a fine line between being tasteful and “whoa girl, aren’t you chilly in that?”
Pick your assets that you feel comfortable and confident showing off, and work that! If you have killer legs, get a set with shorts to those puppies off, and then maybe balance that out with a blazer with long sleeves on top. If you’re showing off you’re beautiful shoulders and décolletage is a cropped/bralette style top, maybe opt for a high rise pant on the bottom.
I searched the web and gathered some sets that I love for a wide range of body types and price points.
