Isn’t it crazy how many different things can affect what we want to wear? Our mood, the time of day, what we have going on in our lives – so many factors. I know for me, the weather is also a big factor!
During the colder months I found myself gravitating towards darker tones, but now that Spring is officially upon us, I want all the bright pops of color! One of my favorite ways to satisfy my craving for color is through color-blocking.
What is Color Blocking?
The term color-blocking simply means pairing together colors that are opposites on the color wheel, but when it comes to fashion I think the term can be used more loosely.
Pairing together complementary colors can be just as fun and bold a way to mix up pieces in your wardrobe that you already have. I would start with two colors that you love together (I like lavender and coral), then make sure your accessories compliment that color story!
Lavender is one of the trends for this spring, so when I saw these Tibi pants on Rent the Runway, I knew I had to order them!
Sidenote: If you want to try Rent the Runway, I can send you a code for $30 off! It’s been a lifesaver for me. Just send me an email or a DM on Instagram!
For my body type (pear shape), high-waist pants that skim away from the hips are really flattering. To create balance on top I wore a ruffled, off-the-shoulder bodysuit. Bodysuits are awesome when wearing something really high-waisted!
The real star of this outfit, however, is the adorable box clutch. It’s really special because my Aunt Nanette gave it to me, and it was her mother’s! She told me that her mother wore it to attend a dinner at the White House – how cool is that?! Vintage pieces can really tell a story, and add a perfect “extra something” to a look.
