As we enter this hard-to-dress-for transition season, where temperatures go from lukewarm to freezing cold in the blink of an eye, it’s tough to know what winter pieces to put up for the year and what spring pieces to get back out. Here are a few of my favorite closet staples for early spring!
Staple #1: Long Sleeved Dresses
During this in-between-seasons time of year, I really gravitate toward wearing long sleeve dresses. They’re versatile as well as cozy, stylish and comfortable.
I found this For Love and Lemons dress at one of my favorite Nashville boutiques, Posh.
Styling Tip: When something has a high neckline or details close to the face, I love pulling the hair back into a pony or some sort of up-do! This keeps your face from getting overwhelmed.
Staple #2: Opaque Tights
Black opaque tights are a wardrobe essential for sure, and my go-to pair is the Hue ‘Black Out’ style. They’re the most opaque I’ve found (which results in a much more modern look), and are a great price point.
Staple #3: Thigh-High Boots
I paired this dress and tights with my favorite pair of OTK boots. I like getting some final use out of my tall winter boots before they go back into hiding until next fall.
Although I absolutely love this versatile, feminine outfit, let’s be honest- the real star of this shoot is that perfectly French-pressed coffee and divine chocolate truffles!
If you’re looking for a special spot for Valentine’s day, or really any other day of the year, you have to try out Tempered in the Germantown neighborhood of Nashville!
By day, it’s an adorable café and coffee shop, and by night it’s a dimly lit, cool cocktail spot. No matter the time of day or night (seriously, it’s open until 2 or 3am most days), you can treat yo-self to some of their handmade, totally unique truffles. They’re constantly rotating flavors, and always have something interesting and delicious to try!
The flavors we picked this time (purely for research, of course) were matcha green tea, rose cabernet, raspberry, and blackberry white chocolate.
Pro Tip: While it’s still chilly outside, go try some of their spiked hot chocolate with homemade marshmallow- I promise it will be the best you’ve had!
Whether it’s a girls night, date night, or just a little treat for yourself, Tempered is for sure a hidden gem of Nashville!
Love this look Carson! I always envy your boot game. And bonus points for including chocolate in a style post! <3 greco
Oh my gosh, thank you so much!! And right? What could be better? I need to think of more style posts that also involve a treat haha!
